Ptolemaic Empire....Ptolemy was born 367 B.C.His mother's name was Arsinoe.His father was unknown.It doen't tell anything about his childhood.He was the founder of the Ptolemaic Dynasty.He became king of Egypt in 323B.C.He ruled for 38 years.Before he became king,Alexander the Great made him governor of Egypt.When he became king he managed to keep control of Egypt in the midst of warfare(wars).About 317 B.C he married Berenice I which was when he was 40.One of his most important victories was the Battle at Gaza in 312B.C.
....Since he was the founder of Ptolemaic Dynasty,he was the first king of the Ptolemaic Dynasty.This dynasty that he made had lasted about 300 years.Some of his achievements are:
- He took over Jerusalem in 320 B.C
- He won the Battle of Gaza in 312 B.C
After couple of wars like those two, there was a peace treaty in 311 B.C.After the treaty, Antigonus Monophthalmus and his son Demetriustried tried to take back control of wealthy Babylonia, but were defeated by Seleucus in the Babylonian War. At the same time, Cassander of Macedonia, Lysimachus of Thrace, and Ptolemy of Egypt who were trying to improve their positions to perpare for the next attack.
